I'm going to be driving 4 hours on thursday to go preview a M35 from GovLiquidaton. I'm just wondering what the common problems to look for are on these trucks. I've been lurking for a long time and have picked up a few things here and there, but am wondering if anyone has any kind of checklist. The truck is a 1971 and looks to be in good shape, hopefully I'll feel the same when I see it in person. Can't wait to go thanks

Hi Will and welcome...

Do a search in the forum for checklist... I think this has been covered many times. Also look over the GL thread, it will have a lot of info that may save you some trouble later. Take lots of photos... It help if you have questions and want others to comment on the truck.

Most importantly... Though hard to do with GL involved... have fun with it!

Check for water in the oil, oil in the water, hoses, belts, brake fluid level, see if it will start, look at battery cables, tire condition, roll under it, check diff and trans/t-case fluids, u-joints, body damage, glass, steering play, clutch play and, if it runs, engagement, see if all the lights are on the truck, You gonna bring another soul with you? Sometimes two heads are better that one. Where are you located?

Jumpstart the truck if they let you or they look away for long enough.

That being said I think we need an Emoticon with a thread being beated to death.
