Lost my power steering fluid

My return line came off on the ride to work last night. Reconnected it this AM and filled the steering pump with what I had, ATF. Of course I spilled a bunch on the belts too. Now I have a whine noise like running mud tires on the road. My brakes and asteering are choppy now also. What have I done or need to do? Do I need to bleed the system some how? Do I need new belts?

Sounds like air entrapment. Jack up the front of the truck after sitting all night. Crank the wheel (with engine off) from lock to lock a dozen times or so slowly. That should free up some of the entrapped air.

If the belts got soaked, I'd change them just for the peace of mind.
