M1008 Glow Plug Wire on fire!!!

I went to start my M1008 and noticed smoke coming out from under the hood. I investigated to see the wire on the last glow plug closest to the firewall on the drivers side on fire. I promptly put it out with water. The one wire is gone, no smoking now and the 1008 starts. Any ideas? Wire too thin after all of these years?

The green GP wire are fusible links. They are designed to blow. Do not replace with standard wire.
