Hey- I may have a leaking rear main seal on my M1008 and before I tear it apart, was wondering if anyone knows if this is a one piece seal or rope seal? I'd like to be forewarned before I pull the truck all apart. The engine is a 1986 6.2L J code......I am getting a couple of drips every time I stop and it appears to be coming from the torque convertor shield;from around where the starter mounts. Any info would be appreciated.

just to be sure, you outta make sure it's not a leaking valve cover....thats real commo aswell:-D
It's a two piece seal, and if orginal it may be rope type. When you replace just use the new type two piece seal. This is a simple repair
:arrow:Search on here, there is a step by step process.
Not to hard - not that fun
I Removed original rope seal - I repaired mine with 2 peice neopreme,
had a slight leak before, now worse after repair Grrr
I will have to do over after my deployment...
& Yes I offset the upper and lower seals in the journal. Torque is correct!
I wonder if I should've installed them flush!? ANY TAKERS:idea:
