M1009 body swap

I have a M1009 in great mechanical condition with 22k miles. Problem is the body is seriously rusted. Not just surface rust either, major rot. Exterior, interior, you name it.

Was thinkin about doing a body swap with a normal K5 blazer as a donor. Anyone ever done this? Would I be ahead just swapping the driveline/running gear from M1009 to K5?

This would be a daily driver, so want the creature comforts of the civy K5 with the exterior looks of the M1009, including brush guard/tow hooks.

in my experience with rust buckets the frame is also often compromised.

You could try a pickup cab on a blazer frame makes for a ultra short wheelbase pickup
look up trazer on Google search truck + blazer = trazer

agreed on the frame rot. at the same time, you might be able to retrofit the 700r4 that the blazer might have to work with the 6.2

Part it out, scrap the rest, and buy a better one. Save your precious time for other things.

Agreed - start over. Buy a true M1009 (the best you can afford) and add some items to make it more comfortable for everyday use.
