I am replacing my fuel tank and sending unit. I have read conflicting reports on whether or not the the 40 will fit. The length between the frame rails is what I am concerned about. The depth and length are same a the 31 which is almost the same as the 27 stock tank. I know I have to get longer straps and hardwear for the sheild to bolt back on. Has anyone successfully put in a 40 and what is the part number for the 31/40 sending unit. I have FG12J but I want to make sure. Regards,
