I have a 1986 m1009 and the alternator and starter burnt out after I shut the truck off and went to start it again and the wire from the battery to the celoniod was bright red as well as the one to the alternator from what I've read it might have been the starter relay but I just want to know what caused it. Just bought the truck a week ago and it has minor rot and runs strong with 50000 miles on it

Hello,

Yes, it was most likely the starter relay sticking..
The same thing happened to me after I bought mine.

After you get the alternator, starter and wiring replaced.
Before you do anything else, do the Doghead Starter Relay Modification.
When you do, that will never happen again.

Good luck, good night, God bless you...

CJ

P.s. If you need any further info., please contact me, I have experience with this problem.
