Has any one made a free standing stand for their M1009 top? I'm looking to make something that will straddle the back on the M1009 while backed into the garage. I tried searching but found all kinds of other things besides what I wanted.

JW4x4 has a system rigged in his yard. Difference is that his are 4x4s sunk in the ground. He has a crossbar that spans the top and he drives out from under it.

Here's some that will hold 250 pounds. Maybe a 1x6 under the front and one under the back with the wires attached.http://www.garagestoragepro.com/Garage_Storage_System_with_Heavy_Lift___250_lbsw3.html

I have one these and they work great. Couple of tips:

Line of the main support arms that attach to the ceiling with your existing ceiling joists so it runs the lenght of the joist.

Get bigger lag screws then are supplied to attach it to the joists.

Mine held more then 250 lbs a couple of times over the winter and didn't give me any problems.
