M1009 with "armor" added

The other day I saw a post with photos of one of these units seen in a convoy and there was a lot of speculation as to just what it is. I found this residue truck on GL and was going to add the photos to that original post but could not find it!

From the photos is is obvious that the "armor" is plywood, unknown why:training? Subterfuge to cornfuse the enemy? Discuss......
