M101-A2 Surge Brake Shock Replacement Process (On-Trailer)

TM gives a nice exploded view of the surge assembly etc.... but everyone looks like they are removing the entire assembly off the trailer A-frame....

Anyone try to do this on-trailer? Can you get away with just removing the landing gear and getting at it?

I just remove the lunette itself to change out the shock; I've done about 5 or so that way in the last few months.

Thanks I was thinking so but didnt know the full story on how the lunette interfaced with the master cylinder via the TM's. it does indeed come right out
