Yes I did a search but found 5 different awnsers. I want to replace the NDT with something more common and like to stay around the same size since it sits nice behind the tow vehicle. What's the close to the 9.00 16's, as I've read everything from 285/85 to a 235/85/16?

Here is a great alternative...
check on ebay for Yellow Sea Clone.

It is a clone of the Michelin ZXL radial tire. New manufacture. The 255/100 r16 is a 9.00x16 equivalent.

Ok thanks everyone. I'm going to try and find some used ones in a close size, cause most tires dry rot way before I run the tread down on my trailers.

There's a big problem with most of those suggestions, according to a tire buster who did some work for me. I used to have a '56 International pickup with 16" split rims. He told me that tires designed for drop-center rims don't work well on split rims because the part of the bead that rides against the rim isn't big enough.

If you're not concerned with staying original or maintaining your weight capacity, you might consider what I did. I bought a "scrap" trailer that was missing hubs and wheels. I cut the govt spindles off and welded front spindles from an early Bronco because I wanted 5 on 5 1/2 rims. It made it so I can use the spare off my '69 Bronco.

PS Ever seen a trailer with lockout hubs?

It's been off limits since before you joined , it's just enforced better now.
Thanks, as you see, I don't post much here.

Just curious, is it because eBay is generally an auction site? This guy sells his tires there, but it is not an auction, there is no bidding, just a "buy it now". As I said, just curious?

Because 99% of the time any links to a for sale or auction becomes a dead link, usually within a few months. And yes because the way EBay works, even if it is listed as a buy now, it gets updated and then the seller has to re-list, which means new web address link

It's the way the site owner wants it .

• Do not post links to auction photos.
• Do not post links to GL/GP(GovPlanet)/GSA(or other sites)that have links that quit working after a short period of time. Save the image to your PC and then attach it to your post.
• Do NOT post links to current eBay auctions or Craig's List ads that are not your own. You may post a link to your own auction/ad only if it is in an information/discussion thread about your vehicle/item. Do not start a post in the Conversations forum or your vehicle specific forum just to announce your auction/ad.

I was was told by my tire shop if keep the ply to 8 and up then there isn't any problem with doing modern tires.

any other sizes to consider that won't be a drastic height change?
