M1010 Wiring

I have a 1028 (1986) that is wired like a 1010 ambulance. It has the 2 big 28 volt alts on it. Is there any reason that I cant take the wire that hooks to the top output shaft on the top alt and put it on the output of the bottom alt and get rid of the top alt.

Beware the dreaded blue box inside your left fender.... See a lot of other posts here in this site. Uncle Sam did a mod on them if you find some cut orange wires in your fender it is a sign that the mod has been done... it did not work regarding keeping the batts from discharging, but cut down some on the fires... There is a lot of good diagnosis on the system in the 34 manual, too
