matt, CARNAC's info on my truck said it was an M1008 so that is what peaked my curiosity....

Based on the 4th digit:H that you mentioned, I would say it's the higher GVWR of the 1028.

4th digit = GVWR/Brake System
-- E = 6001 - 7000 Hydraulic
-- F = 7001 - 8000
-- G = 8001 - 9000
-- H = 9001 - 10000

Can you confirm any of the other M1028 Specific features like a front locker on your truck? Others can be found here.

Can anyone verify that If your serial # starts with 1GCH that you have an M1028, as opposed to an M1008? Because if that's the case, then I have been wrong about my truck all along.
Does your Vin on the dash match the Vin # on the data plate(located inside drivers door jam)? If so, what is the NSN listed on the data plate? And was any MWO done?
