M1082 bed

Hello all! I was wondering if anyone has pictures of a M1082 trailer that they mounted onto their M35A2. I need to have fold down sides on my truck and found a M1082 for cheap, can it be done? How does it look? I’m not looking to bob the truck either. Thank you everyone for any advice and pictures!

I haven't done it on a deuce, but it should go easily. The length is correct so you won't have to cut anything down.

I'm assuming you weld and you can fab some brackets.

The way i usually mount beds is to find existing holes on the truck frame, and then fab mounts to the bed to grab the existing holes. You'll want a wood spacer between the truck frame and the bed.

The M1082 bed doesn't come set up for troop seats, but LMTV seats can be fitted with just a little simple work. If you decide to go that route, I'll share measurements, etc., from when I did mine (on a trailer).

Cheers

Thank you for the response! Yes I am extremely lucky to have access to a fabrication shop, so I can definitely make any brackets that would be required. Why will a wood spacer be needed? Does it have to be wood?

Thank you for your response! Yes I would definitely like to have troop seats! Can I use the original ones in the m1082? Or do I need new seats?

The OEM 5ton beds have wood spacers. Going to 16.00s on a 5ton can cause bed contact with articulation and more spacer would be better.

Looking at the pic of your truck, it looks like you're running 395s. Additional clearance between the top of the tires and the bed wouldn't hurt.

Wood, strips cut from a rubber stall mat, maybe even just 2x2" square steel tubing would all be things I'd consider while you have the bed off.
