M1097A2 w/4L80E transfer case capacity?

As I continue to go over my 'new to me' 1097A2 with a fine tooth comb, I tried adding 3.35qt's of Dextron III to the transfer case since it was drained at the mil turn-in. 3.35qts is per the -10 capacities list but at best I can get maybe 2 1/2 qts in the TC. Am I missing something or using the wrong TM?

Make sure you are parked on a flat surface. Fill till it reaches the edge of the fill hole and a little will trickle out. That's full.

Rgr. It's still on the trailer so when I filled it the first time, the front was tilted up a bit and I thought that was the issue. I lowered the front of the trailer to the floor so the trailer was slightly tilted forward, giving the hmmwv a slight downward tilt. Maybe put in only another cup or so of fluid before it overflowed. Maybe just a hair over 2 1/2 qts overall. Just surprised this capacity is that far off from the TM.

Thats weird but to my knowledge all transfer cases get filled to the fill hole and no higher for obvious reasons. Being on a level surface is required. take a long level to your trailer...front to back AND side to side... just in case

I tossed a level on the trailer as requested. Trailer was slightly nose down but pretty level side to side. I even measured the hmmwv and it also pretty level side to side per the bumper. I couldn't find a straight section to measure the front to back of the hmmwv but my calibrated eyeball says slight front downward tilt.

I even thought maybe the TC was rotated too much to the left or ccw so the fluid level would be skewed so I took a pic with the level next to it. At least the fill port is pretty much directly above the drain port...which I assume is correct. But since I don't have another truck to compare it to, I can't be 100% positive on the correct orientation or clockage of the TC.

And per the 24P-1, there are three variants of the TC so maybe one variant is particularly less than the 3.35qt ??? BVY is the UOC for the M1097A2 but I didn't look for the p/n on my TC to verify.

I won't worry about it much unless the folks here tell me otherwise.
