M135 at the Kansas Museum of Military History

Was wondering what information the serial number on an M135 could tell me about when it was produced? The one that is on its way to our museum is 41114973

Are you missing the main data plate? The date of delivery is on that. The VIN or serial number is as well. The serial number is discussed in the ORD9 G749 parts catalog as far as production changes, so you will know if you have an early or late truck based on that. The 4111 . . . number on the hood is the Army registration number. Basically, the lower the number, the earlier the delivery.
