Just replaced ball-joints. The Mutt was found in a field where it has been setting for years. Question is, the steering wheel will turn about 3/4 of the way in either direction from dead center. The wheel supports have a bolt in the bottom of them that hits inside a groove in the lower A-frame. Is this normal? I took the front end out to replace worn parts and used the tech manual [ field maintence] to put it back together. Thanks.

Yes the bolts in the wheel spindles are normal. if you replaces the ball joints/ tie rod ends in the steering linkage and still have a lot of slop you need to probably rebuild the steering box. also check the joint where the steering column and the steering gear box meet that piece of rubber could be bad
