M211 M135 M133 airfilter retro fit K&N

About my Deuce its a 1956 M133 yes M133 not a M135 I bought it 2 years ago with a stuck in low range trany with a slipping 3rd gear.
I spent a year to rebuild the transmission and put a manual valve body (REB kit) in it. When the engine was out I shaved the head .100 to rase the compression to 8 to 1 ,valve grind heavier Valve springs too . I change the cam out to get a few more RPM also and adjusted the governor to 4000rpm

20171103_234856_resized.jpgSo this is what I did removed the oil bath set up cut the level bar in the bottom pan , made a fitting out of a 3/8 pipe nipple to screw in to the bottom of the top casting cut a 10" piece of 5/16 all-thread .
I use a K&N RU-3260 filter and cut off the 6" rubber flange so it will fit flush to the upper casting and put a hole in the rubber cap for the all-thread to go threw

it took a while to find the tools to set the front a rear bands I was able to get parts from Fatsco all in all not to bad to rebuild.

Looks great! Is your truck up and driving? Some video and more pictures of it would be cool

What did you find in the reduction unit that was making it stick? I have one stuck right now.

Yes truck is running great about 1000 mile since April this year.
The 2 speed: was rust to the forcing cone some people say you can shock the system by shoving it into hi range at 5 to 6 mph this didn't work for me I was able to clean it all up and it works great now. one more thing I am running international Hi-Trans fluid too. Hopefully this hepls

The shift into high didn't work for me either so a rebuild is in my future. You can see my attempt in the first video in my signature. If you watch it, could you tell me if your truck did the same as mine?

Do you have any more detailed pictures of your K&N upgrade? I really like that.

Here are some pics of my project.
You can see the low speed cone that gets stuck, in the trany pic it gets stuck in the fiber cone that's in the rear housing .
Im working out of town this week I will post more of the K&N swap when I get home.

Thats nice work.. can you post some pics and info on the tools you used to set the bands in the transmission?
It never matters what it is..but is always looks better with a fresh coat of green.

Yes I'm out of town i will post some pics of the band tools when i get home .I was able to find them on ebay it took about 3 months to find then they pop up all the time on ebay once you figure out what to look for. Fatsco also rents them cheep if you get them a 300 deposit

Yes please show us what tools to look for. I know of at least 3 of us wanting to learn how to rebuild a transmission for these trucks. Mostly out of necessity.

Here are the tools needed to set the band in the first pic and the last 2.
The second pic bottom is the tool to compress the rings between the 2 clutch packs and the top tool is to measure the end play in the main shaft you can get away without these.
the 3dr pic is a 1 5/16 wrench I modified to tighten up the Taurus cover you kind of need this tool.

the 4th pic is one of the best things I made it holds the trany on my engine stand so you can roll it around while you as

This is the hi/low range accumulator spring I had to take this apart to clean the rust out it was one of the scarier thing I took apart I'm pretty sure it tried to get me too
