Rubber hose between in tank pump and tank outlet has failed.

Had similar symptoms with my A2. Several compromised sections culminating to a not running vehicle. The sending using has massively wide tolerances, but lower fuel level and / or cracked rubber line did it. Additionally I had fuel leaking ( bad gasket at primary filter ).
Truck would start hard. Would idle fine but starved when using accelerator.
When truck was off, air would be drawn in and I'd hear it at the tank and the primary filter.
Please let us know when you nail down the culprit.
