We are building a brush truck and i was wondering if we could connect our 12 volt siren to just one of the batteries of our duece . I have seen in other threads that it will kill the one batt fast . Any opinons . Also what kind of mods do we have to do to it if adding a 12 v alernator is our only choice

M35A3 12 Volt Source

You do not need and don't want to add a second alternator and you don't want to try and convert the system to 12 Volts. And do not connect a 12 volt accesory to a two battery 24 Volt system. You will damage the alternator and the batteries.

There are a number of manufacturers who build solid state converters that can be installed and provide a managed 12 Volt accessory source from the 24 Volt system. That is the solution that heavy equipment, municipal fleets, military and marine applications use today when two different voltages are required.
