m37 canvas top help

I trying to put a used canvas top on my m37 but can't get the metal part over the doors into the holes
I'm about 1 1/2 inches short on both sides. I tryed stetching it as far as i can but i'm still way off.
Would putting the canvas in water for awhile help?

That might work , put some pictures up , i just put a soft top on mine, ill try to help

warm sunlight helps stretch, too.....but sometimes the old tops really shrink...be careful.

I had that problem on my first jeep, I did what ACE said, warmed the top some and it would fit. I placed my top in a heated room, let it sat for awhile, them went and put it on.
