m44 vs. m35

The 54 Reo I have says M44 on the Data Plate. What is the difference between a M44 and a M35?

M44 is the family of vehicles, the M35 is the cargo truck of that family.

if all that the data plate states is M44, how do I find out what the truck was originally.

The M44 was the Chassis Truck 6 x 6...used to make all kinds of special applications.. It would have had 6 11 x 20s, and not the 10 9x20s... that would have been a M45 Chassis They were used to make Fire trucks, and stuff for the Corps of Engineers etc... ACE

54REO, what is on the chassis of that truck now? Probalbly has the pto for an water pump or something?

It appears that the frame rails have never had anything mounted on them. The truck has a winch and dual rears, 900x20.No PTO other than the one for the winch.
