M54 Transmission Air valve assembly

Time to go to the pros. I took the trans cover off the other day, exposing the air valve. There are 3 fittings coming off the assembly. On mine the middle fitting has no hose on it.

What is the middle fitting for and where does it go?

I have found 3 pictures in the TM's, but I can't see where the hose goes when it comes off of the assembly.

Pretty sure the center one is the exhaust(where the pfffssstttt sound comes from)

Confirming the center one is the exhaust. It does not need to be connected to any other hose or fitting.

Marti, thanks for the help on that. All the others seem to be hooked up, so that was my next guess. will find a couple of fittings and a little copper and run it over the edge to keep unwanted dirt and water out.

Better add another question to this. Since the exaust port is open and I can sort of see in there. Should I drop a couple of drops of oil in there for lubrication or is it lubricated another way? Seems like now would be the time to do it, since it is open.

I'd pull the two copper lines off and use an air tool oil/cleaner in all three openings, reattach your lines and shift the transmission between first and reveres a bunch of times.
You should hear the pssssttt sound each time you shift.
