M54a2 drivability

Hay guys getting ready to pull the trigger on a m54a2 it's a state away so I can't really drive it before I buy it. It's a retired wildland fire truck has the multi fuel motor in it. I know it is going to be a slug but how do think it will be offroad low mph carrying 1500 gals of water in its tank. The reason for the truck is offroad ability does low ho motor have the power to get me thought hills? Also if I get this truck I will have a empty trailer from San dego to Portland. Shipping they want about 4-5$ a mile. I'm thinking I will just take one of my trucks up and throw it on my 48k equipment trailer.will be lot cheaper and I can inspect the truck in person.

Tha LDS is not that much of a slug. You should have no troubles off road. Keep it in low and keep the rpm up it will do what you need. Do not lug it.

Thats what I was thinking without any seat time it's tuff to know what to expect I've driven a m35a3 but never a 5ton. For some reason I'm drawn to the 9 series truck but this m54 is equipped like need it would save me alot of time and the multi fuel I'll get me through carb here in cali.Just hope it does what I'm expecting offroad.
