Enjoy that thing with the top off as long as you can because when the top goes back on so does the noise level and by the way that thing sure is turning out nice but I bet you will be looking for a 4l80 in the future. Nice job.

I'm replacing the axles with modern ones with 4.10 gear. it'll be kind of like the factory '89 Dodges with 3.07 gear and 31" tires

Hey! I'm working on doing a 6bt swap as well, I have few questions to ask, as this is my first project and it's a handful, coming along well however

Did the 6bt fit without altering firewall? I have a 2nd gen so I'll have to figure something out for intercooler,,, 2nd did you just buy a universal brake booster?

What about motor mounts,,
Do they sit level with the frame or have to be dropped

The only modification to the firewall was the removal of the heat shield on the passenger side to clear the down pipe. The motor mount frame horns were made out of 4x4" 1/4 wall with a 45deg angle cut. The top of the 4x4" square tube was flush with the frame rail. The brake booster was a '78 Ford E250 brake booster and mastercylinder. I redrilled the firewall to match the bolt pattern and used the van's brake pedal as well.

What axles did you use? I'm wondering because of the steering linkage,, did you convert to power steering

I used my stock axles. I had Ford dually pickup D70U and widened a Dodge D60F to bolt in SOA, but never installed them. I sold them just this past Sunday.
