I have a 1971 Kaiser M813 that is leaking power steering fluid from the pump. The fluid is red like ATF. The lube manual appears to call for 10 weight motor oil. I want to fill the reservoir back up to find the leak but am at a quandary as to what to add . Thanks for any input

red usually indicates the atf probably dexron was used. 10w or dexron or power steering fluid is all almost the same viscosity but different additive packages. If the system is low and you are checking for leaks, I would recommend using power steering fluid which has the correct additives to keep from foaming, pump whining, and it provides the proper lubrication. It is also probably the cheapest and easiest to find of the 3 choices.
