Saturday 7/11 we recovered my new M813A1, 5 ton cargo truck. The truck was located about 120 miles from my shop. 4 of us went, my friend, myself and 2 12 year old boys.
After installing new batteries, the truck fired right up. I had done all of the other prep Friday when I did a post bid inspection.
The truck runs great and it is a joy to drive, boy #1 and myself took the first leg. Freeway, highway and some small towns, top speed is 56mph @ 2100 rpm. After about 60 miles of true bliss, boy #1 and I reluctantly turned the truck over to boy #2 and Paul. Boy #1 and I followed in our air conditioned hell as we admired the steady stream of black smoke bellowing forth from the stack, of the mighty Cummins, as the green giant pulled some awesome hills.
(how about that fancy writing)
The recovery was a complete sucess, not a single problem. The boys, big and small, really like the new truck.
The truck is marked 955th Engineering Company, 329 QM BN. It is out of Fort Leonard Wood, MO.
