I was thinking about getting an M820 and converting it into a camper because it expands and gives more room for the family. Was wondering if I needed a special license being a 5 ton and if it were possible to put a multi-fuel engine in it keeping the automatic transmission. any help on this would be appreciated.

Contact your local DMV on RV license regulations.

Some states require a non commercial class b license others will let anyone drive anything that is not commercial.

There is plenty of room under the hood for a multi fuel engine keep in mind these trucks are slow as snot climbing hills and a multi fuel will need a turbo.
