So I'm going over my new m923a2. Right now I'm checking wires, tightening/cleaning connections and cataloging what grommets and seals are dry rotted and need replacing. During this process I found a wire hanging out from behind the gauge area and I'm having trouble finding it in the TMs. I've attached a (sideways) picture of it. Anyone know what this goes to?

Look at the little metal clip on the wire, it'll have a number. You should be able to find the number in one of the TM's, thus being able to trace what it goes to.

Well, I spent quite some time in the P2P program and could not find a reference to that wire (#180). olive-drap.com lists it as:
180 Lamp Test Line (+24V)

Good resource.

This why they put that cap inline with the wire. It is a signal to the owner or mechanic, that nothing is missing, just an extra wire for an accessory that has not been installed.
The little rubber cap with the white nylon nub coming out of it tells you it doesn't go to anything on your model of truck, that's the mil spec dead end plug. Like plode stated the foil wire number will tell you what it would go to if you had one.
