Almost.

No starter is rated to be cranked more than 30 seconds continuously without a 2 minute break. No engine should require more than 30 seconds to start, use ether or a heater instead of trying to kill the starter. A lower CCA battery of equivalent size has less plates, but they are thicker, and so will last longer through heat and vibration. A higher CCA has thinner plates to fit more of them in the same space, but will have a shorter life. Typical battery life is 5 years or less due to chemistry. 4 Hawkers may be able to start a truck for 10 years, but they will likely not meet their rated CCA after the 4-5 year mark.

Yes, originally they ran 4, to double the voltage and then double the current.

Apparently you have never heard a NHC250 with two group 31s when it is 15 degrees outside. "Ruh Ruh, Screw you " and the batteries are done. Even with 4 of them they don't get many more Ruh's in there.

With an old school starter and no heat/ether, yeah maybe it goes like that. I do hear of people saying 2 is fine for even the 250 in cold weather though. An NHC-250 with no starting aids is probably not going to fire anyway though(?).
