M998 Noise

I got new batteries for my 998. When I start it I hear a pinging noise (chime) in the dash and the charging needle bounces. It does this for several minutes then stops. Is this normal? What is happening if not?

Glow plugs are cycling. Noise from the start box under dash by left side. Normal
