Looking for guidance from someone in Massachusetts that may have a M35A2C insured and registered in MA.

I want to put out an RFB(request for bid) and I'm looking for a company that handles an item such as this for cheap money.

I'm also looking for guidance on the registration.

I have already received one bid from an insurance company looking for $2,300.00 to insure the vehicle. I believe that they think I'm running a business with it and have to have comercial plates due to the weight.

Any guidance on this would be appriciated.

Regards,

I ran into the same thing- NO local insurers would quote me normal rates due to the 3 axles and GVW. They thought I'd need a commercial policy. My normal company, Country, wouldn't touch it because it's too big, Progressive told me the same thing, Hagerty collector insurance wouldn't write me because it's not in a locked garage or permanent carport <img src="emoticons/icon_smilie_bitchin.gif" alt="Bitchin"> And watch out for mileage restrictions. I will again second Gulfway- no mileage restrictions, no storage restrictions, $169 a year.

I have started to talk with the Registry and they are telling me that because it has 10 wheels it has to be registered as a commercial truck. Even thought it will not be making money or used for comercial business.

Plus they are telling me that I need a DOT Medical Certificate and you do not even need a CDL do drive the vehicle so why would I require a Medical Certificate.

Again, I'm looking for someone in the state of Massachusetts that can guide me on some of this.

Here in PA I have a State Farm Commercial policy for less than $400 a year, for my duece. My 86 Subaru with comp. is just over $400 a year on my Business policy.

I was looking here in Texas after buying my M352A.
I took the advice from the blogs list here and other web sites. I let my agent know what it was but told it was just a daily drive truck.
Also asked her to insure it as a kaiser or dodge truck not commercial.
Within an hour she emailed me my proof of ins.
She listed it as a Jeep M352A.
I'm paying $58/6mons through Met.
I took the proof of ins to the county tax office and got a 30 day tag to drive the vehicle home.
Basically it was stated here and other places to not give too much info to the agent. It worked.
