Thanks Chainbreaker. They are just common stud mounted diodes. Normally the stud mounted end is the cathode. The R in the top one means REVERSED configuration where the stud is the anode. I think I can take it from here.

Your welcome & thanks for the explanation of what the "R" designation indicates.

Good luck on your diagnosis & eventual repair!

OK I just looked it up. The diodes used in the 002A and 003A generators are rated at 12 amps and 400 volts. Any diode of the same or greater ratings can be used as replacements as long as they "fit" in the allotted space and as long as they will bolt up to the heat sink. Remember some of the diodes are the R type which means reverse polarity.

Do you all have the TM's for this set? Parts and maintenance manuals?
Yes, most people working on the MEP-002A & -003A have located them here:

http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?77624-TM-s-for-Generators

Although they are a bit obscure to quickly locate. They are lumped together under the heading of "TM-s-for-Generators" while others are listed by their Model designation.

Also, various Military TM's can also be found here: http://www.liberatedmanuals.com/
