MEP 1030A

New to the forum and military generators, I have a new to me MEP 1030A that the DCS screen has no actively, nor does the fuel pump turn on, the breaker has the correct voltage when switched to the off position and it will crank with dead crank switch. I believe the DCS is faulty and opened it, it was pristine without any sign of visible fault or damage, checked the connections while it was open and everything seemed properly landed and secure. Batteries are new and correct duel 51r cables are tight and no damage found anywhere, before I buy a new DCS any help would be truly appreciated.

If you do need a DCS, Kurt has a couple available.

Kurt is already replying to the thread here. I'm sure he will drop you a PM since you don't have enough time on the forum to send messages yet.

Good Day: Below is a link to Technical manuals for your generator. Several members have tried to point you to the probable issue. Step 1: Click on the link, and down load everything for your MEP-1030 generator. You will find what you need in TM 9-6115-749-24&P Work Package 0009, Pages 0009-4 and 5.

It points you to the three connectors behind connecting the DCS to the gen set. Specifically P3 as a member has tried to say check. If power is applied to your DCS and chassis ground (including the ground strap behind the DCS, and the DCS does not respond, you may have a failed DCS. If no power is applied the issue is in RP201 which is a relay panel inside below the DCS where you open the door and it it on the right side on the floor, and these fail all the time due to water intrusion. Battery power from the main DC breaker is applied to this guy and it breakers and fuses power to everything. P5 is suspect and I had pushed back pins in this guy which is a hard one to find, and ours at the training area acted like yours. Let us know what you find. Best to check before spending lots of money.

Thanks so much, as soon as I get home I'll take a good look, i really appreciate it.

Supercool! Just check the Battery power to the DCS as indicated in the manual. Power there, check the pins for ground. If no power, back track to that relay box. At this time there is no T/S for the DCS that was published, but I would try following the power in and there may be on circuit board fuses, or even a wire not making connection correctly. Go slow and be thorough.

You may want to carefully verify the DCS is being provided +24 volts to the P2 plug on the back of the DCS.
B+ pins should have +24 volts on them.

Hello, i just checked A,B,C and confirmed 24v is present, when checking d,e,f i didn't get the audio beep for continuity i was expecting, my meter did show numbers as if it was detecting something, im not very familiar with this meter or what I should have seen if not the typical continuity buzz. Apologies in advance for not being more familiar with the meter or generator function. Any thoughts you have about the DCS being the fault would be truly appreciated.

The pins are in place and shiny clean, when I tested the negative d,e,f on cable p2 I didn't get the audible buzz sound I was expecting, the meter did show a number change on the screen but no buzz, im not very familiar with using a meter however im trying to get up to speed with it and the generator. Thanks alot for the help..
