Mep 802 injector and pump testing

Good afternoon guys,

I have been collecting spare parts for the "just in case moments". I wanted to know if you can test and injector manually if you have the parts...

I have two DOA motors and pulled the injectors out of, metal lines, and a pump. I guess I would have to pressurize a fuel supply(5-6 psi?) to the pump and how much does the cam lobe move the pump?

And since I think gold fish were swimming on top of the cylinders, so I think one injector is trash and the other I think I see four ports for the mist.

Any help would be great as I keep learning about these machines.

Thanks!

The test procedure is listed in TM 9-2815, page 3-31, paragraph 3-17. 2.

It calls for using an "Injector Tester", something everyone has in their back pocket, Im sure. I guess you could do this like you show in the picture, but then you have to know your Injector Pump is also good. Like you said, your fuel supply needs to be pressurized, and I guess using a normal, everyday electric fuel pump would work alright.

What we did was to get and old fuel line, (Injector Pump to Injector) and connect it to the Injector Pump. Then to an injector we wanted to test, but swing it out over the side of the set, over the battery. Then hold a jar under it with one hand, and toggle the S-10, Dead Crank Switch with the other. Once again, you have to trust the Injector Pump to be good.

Thanks Guyfang great idea, my 802 runs good, didn't want to dismantle it, but disconnecting to line off the pump and connecting my spare parts from there, wouldn't do any harm.

Quick and easy. Do not hold the tip of the injector when it pops off. I use a large, log see through plastic container. You can see the spray pattern, but not get personally involved with it.
