I have a bad speed sensor in my MEP005. This happened about 3 or 4 years ago, and I had it rebuilt at that time. It’s worked fine until now. Back then, I also bought a backup solid state speed unit to keep on hand, but I have a question about installing it...
Is there a trick to getting the end of the old unit off? (Photo attached part in red.) I can secure that part in a vise, but there’s nothing on the old speed unit itself to really grab onto to break it lose, and it doesn’t want to break loose even after soaking with penetrating oil. I could destroy it grabbing on to that round part and force it, but ideally, I’d like to save it so I can have it rebuilt again and keep it as a backup.
Any ideas before I end up destroying it?
