mep113a starts then shuts down

Ive been looking in the TM and using the search option here with no luck. Here it goes i have a mep113a with the Hercules diesel, it will start and run as long as i hold the start switch in the start position, but as soon as it falls to the run position it shuts down. This is the first generator ive worked on so any help is greatly appreciated.

It's more than likely the oil pressure sending unit. If its not functioning correctly, the unit will shut down because it thinks it doesn't have oil pressure. Have you tried to turn on the battle short switch and see if it continues to run and see if the low oil pressure light stays on.
