Military Bead lock

Hello again everyone. I have a question. Is there a specific way to remove the bead lock ring on my military bead locks? We're having great difficulty. These are not split wheels. Thank you.

!6 bolt rim? or beadlock? The beadlocks usually don't have bolts(some do, but they are usually 4 bolts.).

It's the old school combat rim. My tires were shot and nylon cord so ended up using a saws all and duck bill hammer.

Ok, I'm home and finally I think I can get some pictures up. We managed to get one of the bead rings off, but now I'm not even sure these are true bead locks. Let me know what y'all know about these.

Not a bead lock, it is a combat rim. Bead locks sandwich the bead of the tire to the rim, mostly used for rock crawling or mall crawling. Combat rims are designed to take apart with common tools so the average GI in the field could repair it. Safer than a regular two piece rim but airing it up in a safety cage is a good idea.

Yes, but if you thought super single rims cost a lot, wait till you price some of these.

They probably had a bead lock in them when they were new.
Dodge combat wheels had them, but they were usually discarded by civilian owners.

Well we finally got a tire off the wheel. A friend said there should be a ring with a hinge, but there was not. Thoughts?

I am pretty sure the Army got rid of them in the late 50's as they were a pain. They were similar to the one shown in post 14 on a 16" rim. I have taken several of the 20" ones apart and never found the remains of the bead lock.

I suppose that's entirely possible. I'm still just struggling with the fact that I can't find any information on this particular wheel. 10 bolt info is plentiful, but these seem to be elusive! Oh well, gonna clean them up today and see exactly what kind of shape they are in. If I can't use them, then I will sell them. NDT has first dibs as he has expressed interest in them previously.
