Mounting of Headlights

Is there a reason why some headlights are mounted on top of the night lights and some under the night lights. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Early trucks had low lights on non winch trucks with high lights for w/w trucks. Later all were mounted high.

Yes, there is a reason. I agree with the statement above.

Also, the early headlight buckets were able to be reversed (hi/lo). Some of the later ones didn't have this ability and were high position only.

here is a link with pictures that explain the differences. i did not move the low headlights on my M35a2 when i added the winch and it does not effect driving. there is a spot about 20 feet infront of the truck where the bumper blocks the light but you can't see it from the cab.
