MTVR Manuals

Did anyone find manuals for the MTVR, specifically the MK23? I have to pull the front differential and wanted to see if there were any pointers in there! Thanks!
There is only one Maintenance “manual” and it covers all variants of the MTVR. While in Iraq, we tried to upload the CD’s to the MEF share drive so that units could download load them. Something in the programs did not allow it to work.
Also, the newer EMS-NG does not work correctly all the time, especially when using the schematics.
I have been working on MTVR’s since 1999, first as a Marine then as a Oshkosh Truck Corporation FSR assigned to I MEF and II MEF from 2004-2009 and now I work on them for the Marines as a DOD employee.
I have yet to meet anyone who knows these trucks better than me….and yes I have current CD’s but no, I cannot upload them here.

@Madball90 you sound like you know your stuff. Have a few questions regarding the CTIS on my 2002 MK23. When I change terrain to a "lower" selection; ie highway to cc, or cc to mss, I hear a audible "whine". Is this normal? I assume it's just the system purging the air from the tires? Next question, how long does it normally take to adjust pressures from different terrains/capacities? Seems like it takes mine a solid 10 mins before the lights go back solid. Perhaps I have a some sticking solenoids? Im not exactly sure where to look or start. I spent an enlistment around 7 tons, but never more that the occasional uncomfortable ride in the back. Bulk fuel Devil Dog here. Thanks for any and all advice you may have to offer. Rah!

"Whine" is not really descriptive. Air will release from the quick release valves. Yes the system can take a long time change pressure as these are high volume tires. Increasing pressure will take longer if revs are low as the compressor is spinning slower.
If the light eventually goes solid, that's a good indicator your ctis is working properly.

Specifications say 20 minutes to fill the tires up from sand to highway is normal at idle.

Do you have newer built tires? or just brave? I have not tried to air mine down as my build date tires are old. I believe btwn 1999 and 2007.

The whining sound is kinda normal. That is the air being dumped out of the tires up to the quick release valves.
As per the IETM, if you try to air your tires up from Emergency to Highway it can take a total time of up to 40-45 minutes. So the 10 minutes you are saying yours is doing is within the norm for the MTVR’s.
I have been working on MTVR’s since 2003. First for Oshkosh (as a FSR in Iraq) and now for the Marines corps as a DOD civilian.

Since I replied to the wrong post, I'll repost here. I have a truck, but I am in desperate need of some manuals. I also have a few questions about some updates I'm wanting to do. Hope to talk soon. My email is jginn@otmcyber.com

I'm also a cybersecurity engineer and programmer so I wanted to reach out to you and offer my services to image them where they can more easily be uploaded and downloaded without breaking. The manuals, if not listed in the Technical Manuals section of this site, are most likely NOT Distribution A (public release, no restrictions). Just as a reminder, here are the current codes:

“Distribution Statement A. Approved for public release: distribution is unlimited.”
“Distribution Statement B. Distribution authorized to U.S. Government agencies [category] [date of determination]. Other requests for this document must be referred to [controlling DoD office].”
“Distribution Statement C. Distribution authorized to U.S. Government agencies and their contractors [category] [date of determination]. Other requests for this document must be referred to [controlling DoD office].”
“Distribution Statement D. Distribution authorized to the Department of Defense and U.S. DoD contractors only [category] [date of determination]. Other requests for this document must be referred to [controlling DoD office
“Distribution Statement E. Distribution authorized to DoD Components only [category] [date of determination]. Other requests for this document must be referred to [controlling DoD office].”

To reaffirm Mike's statement, I've been reached out by the DoD to remove TMs from the site due to their distribution status. I am in no way wanting to hamper the sharing of knowledge and information. I just have to follow what uncle Sam tells me to do.

On a personal note, some manuals status are insane IMO. The worst being the STE/ICE diagnostic TOOL TM. This is just a diagnostic tool to repair older MVs. Heck, I think only the older HMMWVs still in service could use it at this point.

I asked a TACOM Rep several years ago why there are so many TM's, with a Distrabution Statment of "B" or higher. His answer? "95% of the time, its all about the equipment manufacturer not wanting to give you or any other non Government agency or person, information they paid millions to produce. It has mostly, nothing to do with "Secrets", or sensitive information. So in the contract to produce equipment, they demand, and get the clause to not release the information to the public. Think of it as a copyright problem. You have not paid for it, why should you get it for free?

On a side note. Sometimes the restriction is lifted. But many people only look at the cover page of the TM, where it is printed:
DISTRIBUTION STATEMENT B. Distribution authorized to U.S. Government agencies and their contractors for administrative or operational use as determined on 1 June 2014. Other requests for this document shall be referred to Commander, U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command, 6001 Combat Drive, ATTN: AMSEL-LCL-ECM, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD 21005-1846.

That's why I always look at the Change cover sheet pages, if there are any changes. If the Distribution Statement is going to be changed, you will normally only see it on the Change page, posted in the front of the TM. Its rare that the TM cover gets changed. I copied the below statement directly from Change #2 of a manual .

My personal feeling are that Tax Payers paid for the Manual, at the end of the day. And its our money that went to the manufacturer, for the TM. Its ours. Unless releasing that information endangers some soldiers life, there is no reason to restrict that information. But the law is the law. Instead of complaining, write your congressman. Follow the instruction on the Distribution Statement: Other requests for this document shall be referred to Commander, U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command, 6001 Combat Drive, ATTN: AMSEL-LCL-ECM, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD 21005-1846. Any one here done that?
