Yes, the foam can be a problem.
Mine had been soaked in water for many years. This is causing serious corrosion.
My renovation was halted due to numerous holes. I cut open the floor from underneath and removed the foam.
I have no idea how to repair it because the aluminum oxidizes, and with so many holes, I would have to replace the entire paneling.
I'm wondering if I should repair it from the inside with aluminum glue... a serious problem I haven't solved.
