My first MV!

I found it so hard to find an M35A2 with the specific options I wanted within a reasonable distance and price range, so I decided to drive out to TNJ Murray in Dover DE, expecting everything to be overpriced. My son and I walked around their acreage and veritable graveyard of MV's in subarctic temperatures. We had a great time crawling over and around countless hulks of rubbish and semi-recognizable rust heaps formerly known as Deuces and 5 tons. All I wanted was a deuce with a hard top, whistler, winch and heater. Too much to ask? I talked to Keith who is in charge of something or other there and he told me he could get me this truck with the options I wanted for my budget. 20160118_150314.jpg20160118_145756.jpg No cosmetic, improvements, but they'd make sure it was mechanically sound and squared away.

I thought about it for several weeks and went back with Pitpawten to walk the yard again. They pulled the ol' "That offer expires today" deal and I decided to take a leap of faith. I put my money down and began the long wait. In the mean time I second guessed my decision countless times and ordered 1100r20 XZL's from Memphis Equipment. (in that order) I think I must have hounded Keith mercilessly, but finally the day came to get my baby!

Pitpawten and I made a day of it, scrounging through the yard pulling parts from here and there, getting some INCREDIBLE deals from Keith on what we pulled.

The deuce the day I picked it up (3/18/16) DSCN0099.jpgDSCN0098.jpg20160318_105537.jpeg.jpg

Scrounging the yard for parts and pieces. Evidently my backside is my best side. 20160318_144259.jpeg.jpg20160318_143629.jpg_20160318_144322.jpg_2.jpg

We got home and promptly set up a photo shoot :) 20160318_182129_Richtone(HDR).jpg20160318_182056.jpg

Over the past week I changed the driver's side windshield, painted the front bumper, rear bumper, winch and driver's door area, following the Behr paint thread as a guide. 20160323_113404.jpg

This forum has been an irreplaceable source of information, ideas and sometime's bad advise. ;) I find myself just standing in my garage "drinking it in". Can't wait to get another.....

Thanks! I'm already thinking of countless projects to justify the purchase. Bed crane is next on the list. Just found a new in box 2500lbs winch at a second hand store that will replace the hand crank on the crane. (when I actually get the crane)

Flynavy, that is a mighty fine looking truck you have yourself there. Enjoy it as I really enjoy mine, just happens to be a 5 ton. Even drove it to work today to exercise it. :driver:
