Leo, an ol' Nam Vet from the neighborhood came by the other day to check out the deuce, he knew we had bought one but hasn't seen it since we refurbished it.
Well, as he was checking her out, he walks over to the 105 trailer and points out a pair of small holes in the tailgate. They've been there since we bought the trailer at DRMO (see picture below) and we assumed because they lined up more-or-less on a straight line from top to bottom, that they were for some hook or somthing that was taken off.
Leo says, and upon closer inspection he's correct, that they're holes from a pair of .50 cal machinegun rounds that went through when the tailgate was in the down positon
What amazes me is that neither me nor my Dad, who went over every inch of that trailer with wire brushes and a paint gun, didn't ever consider that as a possibility....
