Here is a pic of the ATX8. Tatra cab and suspension, Maxforce engine designed by MAN Germany, all put together by Navistar: From Janes
The ATX6 (6 × 6) and ATX8 (8 × 8) are based on TATRA T 815-7 designs, the primary production differences being that their standard TATRA engines and transmissions have been replaced. Development of the TATRA T 815-7 series of trucks commenced in 2004. The T 815-7 series combine some mechanical features of the 1998-introduced T 815 ARMAX family and 1996-introduced T 815-6 FORCE families of trucks, but with a purpose-designed tactical application flat-panelled cab replacing the commercial design fitted to the ARMAX and FORCE families. The overall mechanical layout of the TATRA T 815-7 truck series follows closely that of earlier TATRA truck designs. The torsionally rigid tubular backbone-type chassis is retained, as is the swinging half-axle independent wheel suspension system. The suspension is however revised, and a 3D frame is now formed by connecting the backbone tube with a conventional ladder frame via cross-members. Air bellows-type height adjustable (+90/-105 mm) suspension units are located between the half-axles and ladder frame, these supplemented at each wheel station by hydraulic shock-absorbers, and where required, anti-roll bars for axle pairs. This design revision further improving vehicle mobility in a difficult terrain, while increasing stability during cornering and at higher road speeds. Motive power for the ATX6 and ATX8 is provided by Navistar's MaxxForce D 12.4 emissions compliant diesel engine, this replacing the T 815-7 family's standard TATRA T3-928 V-8 engine. An Allison 4500SP fully automatic transmission replaces the standard TATRA manual gearbox; TATRA's two-speed transfer box is retained. Full-time all-wheel
