All i can say is i am jealous of you all! I am just starting to look into getting an m813. I have seen some contacts. and such as to where to buy one... I don't want to call them, and waste their time asking lots of questions because i don't think i am ready to get one just yet, but i guess who knows. some questions i have are; what is a good spread of what i can expect to pay for one, from worst shape price, to one that drives and stops price. how hard are the parts going to be to find for an 813 vs a 923 or others? are there any dot laws governing public hwy use, and that kinda jazz? I welcome any input, you all rule!

Welcome aboard. These folks have lots of experience and I'm sure some of our members will be able to help or point you in the right direction. For now check the previous forums, look through the on line manuals, .... and ask questions. Enjoy! [thumbzup]

Welcome aboard sirk798! You could probably pay anywhere from $3,000-$13,000, with an decent runner for about $8000. A lot of the parts are common between the 813 and the 923, especially with the same engine, but the 923 parts are more difficult and costly to find. A lot of chassis/cab parts are also common between the M39 series (mutlifuel) and the M809 series (cummins). Unless you use the truck in a commercial application, you shouldn't have much trouble with the law. Unless you are accustomed to working/operating big equipment, you might want to consider a 2.5 ton for your first purchase. Cheaper to get and a little smaller to work on.

thanks for the replys, I guess i should have included more of my backround. I was the the USMC from 98-04. I was a 3521 motor vechicle mechanic, so I have endless exp working on and driving these, hense my love for them. they are just so much fun to cruise. The main reason i prefer the 809 vs 923 is i prefer the air/hydrolic brakes, and the standard trans. i know other than that, they are basicly the same truck... I am hoping to be able to find and come out to some events that I learn of this summer...
