New Braunfels, TX Military Vehicle club?

Ok guys and gals, is there a New Braunfels chapter yet? I was part of one in Columbia, SC (MVCSC) and it became my home away from home. Since moving back to Texas, there isn't much of anything close by. I know Austin has a chapter, but driving 1 hr + is a little much for me to accomplish on a weekly basis. Would anyone be interested in getting together one evening a week to help each other work on our vehicles and to plan participation in events and parades? I have networks in the MVCSC group that can help us get our 501c3 certification if we can build up enough interest and people. I think it would be enjoyable for everyone. I cannot explain how much fun it is to do this on a weekly basis.

Please post up if you are interested and PM me your contact information (ie- email address) so we can get a coffee meeting set up.

Thanks!

The Lone Star MVPA (based out of Camp Mabry in Austin) only meets once per MONTH. The next meeting is Wed Jun 20 at 7pm at the museum. The other option is the Alamo MVPA that hasn't had a regularly scheduled meeting since 2010 but still gets together for events.

Ok, well I am going to see what I can start up in New Braunfels. I need to feed the addiction and the addiction requires a once a week work afternoon, evening, or night, LOL! Even if we only start out with two or three people, so be it. A good friend of mine always said, "If you start it, they will come" so I am going to give it a shot. I know the economy is getting pretty rough, but I still see people running around the 'ol green, so I know it's not dead.

Thanks for the info and if you run into anyone in the New Braunfels or surrounding area looking for a home, send them this way.

You're more than welcome to come over to my place any day of the week to work:whistle:

I'm only 30 miles west of you and wouldn't mind getting together but with diesel still over $3.50/gal even 30 miles is too much for me once a week.

MK, I live in Comfort so I might amble over sometime. Not that far away. Or..... you can come here and help with my weapons carrier restoration.

You're always welcome. Let me know if there's something specific you need a hand with. I'm usually available any time (including during the week).

I will be at Ft. Sam Houston around the 20th of July for the next three years and could probably make my way up there every couple weeks or so. (I hope)
Welcome! I live about 20 miles due north of Ft Sam.

If you're planning on buying a house in town my wife is a military specialist loan officer (meaning she specializes in service members, VA, etc and knows the ins/outs of PCSs and such) and she's a board member of Operation Homefront/TX. We do an annual food drive for OpH/TX called Fill the Deuce (see my avatar) and have done a couple of events at Ft Sam.

Coming from Vegas you should enjoy the cooler temps. It's only in the mid-90s now.

LOL! Yes Diverman, there is a lot of that, as I am sure you have seen! :)

I believe that with all the events going on each year, there is no reason why we can be apart of them and remind people of the others that paid the ultimate price.

I know this is an old thread but just picked up a M931A2 and looking to find a club/group close to San Antonio.... I could not do weekly required meetings but monthly or something like that would be great.... or just local contacts.... to share info and lend a helping hand.

Congrats on the new purchase!

The Alamo MVPA is pretty much defunct now. A few members have rolled up in to the Lone Star Chapter but do events in San Antonio (which you're always welcome to but the meetings are in Austin). I'll try to post here if there is anything scheduled locally.

I am at Fort Sam and wouldn't mind getting together somewheres (even just to eat and BS) on Saturdays or Sundays every week.

I'm from SanAntone but ranch in Pearsall about an hr south on 35, where I keep my truck. I would love to join some folks every now and again and hang out, even fire up the truck and take a long cruise every great once in a while.

I live on Fort Sam Houston as well and would like to hang out now and again with fellow MV collectors, but I'd prefer something maybe on a quarterly basis. My biggest challenge is finding storage for these beasts and a place to work on them. At a minimum I'd like to become part of a San Antonio-based "MV addict support group". :)
