Hello Everyone,
I just picked up a Deuce off a GL auction and was wondering who out there has gone through this process? Aside from the EUC and following steps, anything I need to keep in mind as I get it registered and titled as a civilian vehicle?

I've been looking for a while for off-road utility and agricultural use, so it's good to finally be on the way to having an off-road vehicle with some real muscle!

What was the lot number of the truck you won? I've had eyeballs on all of them at Santa Fe.

Oh, and welcome to SS

Congratulations!
I bid on and won a deuce today myself.
Congratulations to you too! It looks like you have a few already.

If you don't mind, I have a few quesitons:

1. Have you been through this process before with GL?
2. Is the invoice sent & paid after the EUC application has been approved?
3. Does GL send an SF97 or does the buyer initiate this process?

Thanks in advance,

-JP

Did you win one from the NM ARNG up in Santa Fe? Let me know how the loadout goes. I have been eyeballing some of those trucks from that unit.
Sure did. I plan on sharing the process as it progresses. Hopefully the loadout is easy, but I'm comfortable with towing as well (I live in Santa Fe County). It looks like they have alot of trucks there. I figured I'd get one this go-round since I will need it by July-August.

Thanks! it was lot 7650. It looked like the one in the most ready-to-go condition.

Being a navy reservist makes it easy to get on base to look at them. I was checking one out at KAFB over the summer. However, being the only one up for auction at that time, she was the belle of the ball--and I didn't need one quite yet.

As I mentioned earlier, I'll be looking for a ~1000/mi per year work vehicle which I'll need by late summer.

Being retired Navy makes it easy too..:-D

Looks like you'll be needing some new side windows for that truck. Did you miss the Santa Fe auction 6 weeks ago? 26 trucks went for 1000 to 1300 less than you paid today.

Did you get a good look at that one? Yeah, I saw the auction 6 weeks ago--but I had not yet committed to buying one. I understand they are in large batches during Nov/Dec. Since I need it by summer, it's a cost I'll have to swallow--good on those who got them in November though!

As for me--it still seems like a good deal for the amount of brute-fire-road travelling-log-carrying-strength I'm getting.

I sat in it, looks to be in good shape, I didn't see anything that would lead me to believe it wasn't a runner with the usual pre flight preps. Good luck with it!

When the time comes, aside from a pair of deep cycle 12V batteries what other items should I bring in my toolkit when I go to pick her up? She'll only need to make a 50-mile trip, on a rural highway (NM-14). I can probably look closer at anything needing closer-looking this weekend.

Unless you get the GL rep up there from Kirtland on a weekend (not likely) you won't be able to get anywhere near your truck, it's in a locked yard on the NG base....

Forgot about that! Thanks for the link to the pickup checklists. I have alot of reading to do...and alot of time to do it.

Here's a question for you that isn't clear from what I can see on the GL site: Is the invoice not generated until the EUC has been cleared, or is payment expected up front?

Also, after EUC and paid invoice, how does pickup from Santa-Fe occur and what forms are needed? (i.e. does the GL rep from Kirtland have to come up).

Thanks for your help--if it weren't for the shared experience of current M35 owners, a newbie like me would not know where to start. Don't get me wrong--I've had a handful of Jeeps, but this is an entirely new level of complexity and size.

GL will take your money, probably by tomorrow night , and then you will get an invoice that says awaiting payment in full, then you must complete an EUC online at the GL website. Then you are waiting for your EUC to clear, for a first timer it can take awhile. When you get your EUC back you will get another email saying your paid in full invoice is ready for download, at this point call the GL rep and set up an appointment for him to meet you at Santa Fe, he will be coming from Kirtland AFB.
