Hi, I have a local lead on a m-35 which the owner says the engine has a knock. Is this a common problem? Are replacement engines out there? How much? And is this a project that people should attempt, or just keep looking for one with a good engine. Whats the value of a duece if the engine is shot?

Thanks

If this is all new to you I would probably go with a good runner. But on the other hand what better way to get to know a truck than to start swapping motors. As far as value of one needing an engine - personally I'd only give maybe 1000-1500 depending on the shape of the rest of the truck.

If it's knocking I wouldn't run it a bit more untill I pulled the pan and found out what is loose. These engines have been known to put a hole in the block when something lets loose.

I've got as good running LDT 465 multifuel for sale for $700. Can be heard run and drive the truck it's in at the moment.

I am somewhat familiar with these truc ks. I was an Army welder for 4 years. Had an old one a Ft. Hood , TX, assigned to me. Back in the 90's. I am still around some diesel trucks and equipment nowadays, because I weld for a coal company, and we lend a hand with the mechanics quite a bit. I will let you know more on condition after looking it over. thanks
