Good looking truck! Be sure to spend maybe an hour crawling lightly over it to check oil levels in the differentials, transmission and transfer case before you hit the road. An adjustable wrench and a half inch ratchet should get that job pretty quickly. Check your brake fluid too...

She looks like the previous owners took good care of her. No dents and dings, the hood looks good. Rust seems to be minimal too. Congratulations!

Be sure to check the brake fluid and make sure the brakes are working well before driving it home. They can be a weak point on these trucks.
It uses DOT 5 Silicone fluid, unless someone has flushed the system and put DOT 3 back in. DOT 3 and 5 CANNOT be mixed!

That being said, I enlarged your query in the quote above.
The BEST answer that anyone could give you is this...

ALL the TM's (Technical Manuals) are available on this website. They are the manuals Uncle Sam's 102 lb, 18 year old troops used to operate and maintain these trucks while in Uncle's service.
The TM's should be your starting point. Once your have read... really READ them, then any questions you still have, which have probably been asked many times on these forums, have most likely been answered. The SS website's SEARCH function is a great tool for finding any necessary threads for these answers.


So, to bring these two points together.... once you have come aboard and you find a comfortable bunk, grab a mug of coffee and read - read - read those TM's and explore the website.

The information archived here is utterly priceless.

I definitely read the crap out of that on here....lol....checked everything...got home without a hitch
