Hey everybody. first i would just like to say thank you to everyone who has helped make this site what it is. i have been a member for a couple months now but have been working on my truck too much leaving me no time to post. i recently picked up an 84 m1009. since i have gotten it ive done the manual glow switch (my plugs were wired very peculiarly and not even hooked up) resistor bypass, doghead starter relay, and updated my gp relay. i also had some starter issues and went ahead and ordered the starter, bolts and bracket. soon after realizing someone had drilled out the holes in the block and changed them to 7/16-14's... needless to say it created some serious issues and i have been fighting with the weather for 3 weeks in my driveway to get this problem solved. Yesterday i miraculously got the starter fitting right and it was time for the big test. Plugged it in for about an hour (put in a 1500w coolant heater/circulator instead of freeze plug) did all the proper tests, added some diesel 911. i charged the gp's for about 7 seconds, and then 5 on my 3rd try. the starter worked wonderfully and all my hard work paid off!!! there she was purring once again ready for the road. so once again. THANK YOU! i could not have done any of this without all the help here. the motor only has 12000 orig miles on it so ill be here for a while. i hope there will be more trucks to come!
